Important Notice

ClockTools provides free browser-based time utilities for general, everyday use. Our tools are not intended for medical, safety-critical, scientific, or professional applications where timing accuracy is essential. Please read this full disclaimer to understand the limitations of our service.

1. General Disclaimer

The information and tools provided on ClockTools ("the Service") are for general informational and convenience purposes only. While we strive to provide accurate, reliable tools, we make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability, or availability of the Service.

Any reliance you place on the Service is strictly at your own risk. In no event will we be liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the Service.

2. Accuracy of Time Tools

ClockTools' time-related tools (alarms, timers, stopwatches, world clocks) depend on:

  • Your device's internal clock accuracy
  • Your browser's JavaScript engine timing precision
  • Network connectivity for time zone data
  • Your device remaining active (not in sleep mode)
  • The browser tab remaining open

Due to these dependencies, we cannot guarantee timing accuracy to any specific standard. While our stopwatch uses high-resolution browser APIs capable of sub-millisecond measurement, actual accuracy depends on your specific hardware and software environment.

Time Zone Information

Our world time and time zone tools use data from the IANA Time Zone Database. While this is the authoritative source for time zone information, changes to time zones and daylight saving time rules are made by governments and may take time to propagate. Always verify critical time conversions through official sources when scheduling important international events.

3. Not for Critical Applications

ClockTools is NOT intended for and should NOT be used for:

  • Medical purposes: Do not rely on ClockTools for medication reminders, medical timing, monitoring vital signs, or any health-related timing. Use FDA-approved medical devices for such applications.
  • Safety-critical applications: Do not use ClockTools for timing related to personal safety, emergency response, industrial safety, or any application where timing failure could result in injury or death.
  • Scientific or research timing: For scientific experiments requiring precise timing, use laboratory-grade timing equipment calibrated to appropriate standards.
  • Legal or financial timing: Do not rely on ClockTools for trading, legal deadlines, or any application where timing has legal or financial consequences.
  • Professional sports timing: Official sports timing should use certified timing systems. ClockTools may be used for training and informal timing only.
  • Aviation, maritime, or transportation: Never use ClockTools for navigation, flight timing, or any transportation-related timing.

4. Browser-Based Limitations

As a browser-based service, ClockTools has inherent limitations:

Alarms May Not Ring If:

  • You close the browser tab or window
  • Your device goes to sleep or hibernates
  • Your browser is closed or crashes
  • System audio is muted or disabled
  • Browser permissions block audio playback
  • Battery saver or power management interrupts the browser
  • You're using a browser that restricts background audio

For critical wake-up alarms, medication reminders, or any important alerts, we strongly recommend using a dedicated alarm device (such as your phone's built-in alarm or a physical alarm clock) as your primary alarm, with ClockTools as a backup only.

Timer Accuracy in Background

Modern browsers may reduce JavaScript timer frequency when a tab is in the background to save battery and CPU. While we use techniques to mitigate this, timers running in background tabs may have reduced accuracy, especially on mobile devices.

5. Third-Party Content and Links

ClockTools may display advertisements from third-party ad networks (including Google AdSense). We do not control the content of these advertisements and are not responsible for:

  • The accuracy or legality of advertiser claims
  • Products or services advertised
  • Third-party websites linked from advertisements

We also may link to third-party websites for additional information. These links are provided for convenience and do not constitute an endorsement. We have no control over the content, privacy practices, or accuracy of third-party sites.

6. Educational Content

Our blog posts, guides, and educational content about time management, productivity techniques (like the Pomodoro Technique), and time zones are provided for informational purposes only. This content:

  • Is not professional advice (medical, legal, financial, or otherwise)
  • May not be suitable for your specific situation
  • Should be verified through authoritative sources for critical decisions
  • May contain errors or become outdated

7. "As Is" Service

ClockTools is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We expressly disclaim all warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Implied warranties of merchantability
  • Fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement
  • Accuracy, reliability, or completeness of content
  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ClockTools, its owners, operators, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any:

  • Direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Lost profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
  • Damages resulting from your use or inability to use the Service
  • Damages resulting from any goods or services obtained through the Service
  • Damages resulting from unauthorized access to or alteration of your transmissions or data

This limitation applies regardless of the theory of liability (contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise), even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
